• Showing at The Tarkio Theatre: “Cheaper by the Dozen” with Clifton Webb, Jeanne Crain, and Myrna Loy.
• Lindy Wolever, a baseball player who played with the Tarkio Tarks last year, is working out with a Chicago White Sox team this season. The young outfielder, who was a sophomore at Tarkio College last year, is with the Superior, Wisconsin, team in the Northern league.
• Jack Davis has returned from St. Louis where he graduated from the College of Mortuary Science with distinguished honors. He will serve a year’s apprenticeship here with his father, John M. Davis.
• Formal opening of Flesners’ Super Texaco Service and Lunch in its new building at 101 Main Street has been announced for tomorrow. The new building, which replaced a smaller service station on site, houses a lunch counter, station office, and indoor facilities for washing and greasing.
June 26, 1975
• A reception honoring the golden wedding anniversary of Dr. and Mrs. R.W. George will be hosted by their children in the Filson Parlor of the United Presbyterian Church June 29.
• The 1975 Missouri State High School Championship Rodeo will go down on the books as the largest in the 20-year history of the Missouri State High School Rodeo Association. Ninety-eight of the association’s 110 members (largest membership ever) will be competing for trophy saddles, sterling silver buckles, trophies, and scholarships to Tarkio College.
• The Church of God in Tarkio will hold a Youth Revival July 3-13. The evangelist for the revival will be the Rev. Ron Richardson of Kansas City, Missouri, a 17-year-old senior who is an accomplished saxophone player and composes and sings his own songs.
• Opening June 27 on Main Street in Tarkio, Grannie’s “Old Fashioned” Ice Cream Parlor: “Back to the good old days” from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday – 5¢ ice cream cones, any flavor. There are 16 flavors, ice cream and ice cream cones, sundaes, sodas, flavored colas, pies, brownie sandwiches, and homemade sandwiches.

• The Tarkio Golf Course recently received many improvements. A rock wall was installed just behind hole number 9 tee box. The number 6 tee box was also newly constructed just north of the original tee box. A memorial scoreboard was also installed with four individual scoreboards used for tournaments and other events at the course.
• Gabby’s Gas and Go is open for business in Westboro, Missouri. Owned by Linda, Gary, Dennis and Sherry Peregrine, the convenience store is located at the old Bess Trucking business. The last convenience store in Westboro closed about six years ago.
• Work on the new bathrooms at Niedermeyer Park in Tarkio is underway. Footings are in and work on the sewer lines should begin soon. The project is being completed by the Tarkio FFA Chapter.
• Phyllis (Stevens) and Dennis Martin are celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary June 20. They were married by Reverend Robert Collins on that day in 1975 at the First Baptist Church in Tarkio.
