The Atchison County Mail’s layout and design queen is saying a fond farewell to working full-time. Lori Shaw has been the creative genius behind the newspaper’s look for the past several years and has contributed to the successes of the Atchison County Mail, Tarkio Avalanche, and Fairfax Forum newspapers and offices off and on since the 1980s. Although Lori will still be helping out part-time, the newspaper staff would like to recognize her for her dedication and hard work these past four decades by holding a reception Friday, June 27, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Atchison County Mail, 300 South Main, Rock Port. Thank you, Lori, for all you have done and continue to do to make our newspaper so special.

The Tarkio Rodeo and community events, High Road concert, and Steel Magnolias production held this past weekend were all huge successes. Despite the extremely warm temperatures, the county and area residents came out in droves to support the efforts of all the event organizers and to have a good time. We think it’s safe to say, “A good time was had by all.”
