From Mayor Chaney

We had a great city meeting last night, and I just want to say thank you to everyone who showed up, spoke up, and helped keep our town moving forward. Your voices matter – and it’s always encouraging to see community involvement in action. If you haven’t been to a meeting lately, I’d love to see you at one! Stay up to date on upcoming meetings and events at www.rpmo.com.

Here’s a quick recap from your Mayor’s chair:

Grants & Growth:

We heard a great presentation from the Northwest Missouri Regional Council of Governments. They shared some helpful tools like Grant Intake Forms and their Grant Writing services – opportunities that could really benefit our town long-term.

Utility Late Fees:

We’re working on removing the flat $20 late fee and instead sticking with just a 10% penalty. That means on a $150 bill, the fee goes from $35 down to $15. This change still needs to go through the proper ordinance process (two readings), but we’re listening and acting.

Traffic & Safety:

We discussed putting up radar speed signs in high-traffic areas. We know some folks have a bit of a heavy foot – but this is about safety, especially for our kids and pedestrians. We’re still exploring grants, logistics, and waiting on MoDOT approvals before making any commitments.

Buzz-Worthy News:

A new local business applied for a license – bringing honey, wax, and other bee-related products into our community from their nearby farm. Always exciting to see small business growth in Rock Port!

Beautification Ideas:

We’re talking about sprucing up the town a bit – replacing some faded signs and maybe even adding a mural or two. Still early stages, but there’s energy around making our town even more inviting.

Infrastructure Updates:

Our Superintendent shared that more concrete road work is set to begin soon, and he’s met with the tree trimming company to get things rolling there as well.

Tech Glitch Alert:

Our iPad had other plans during the livestream image001.png – we’ll aim to get things set up earlier next time to avoid the hiccup.
