Julie Koop Stanton has opened a hair salon called Ruffled Feathers on the top floor of The Curnutt Center on the Tarkio Tech campus.

Julie’s friend Robin Lewis created the Ruffled Feathers logo.

Julie Koop Stanton of Fairfax, Missouri, has changed the name of her hair salon to Ruffled Feathers and added a new location on the top floor of The Curnutt Center on the Tarkio Technology Institute campus at 404 N. 13th Street in Tarkio, Missouri. Julie will be offering men’s and women’s hair cuts, color, perms, ear piercing, waxing, as well as retail shampoos, conditioners and styling products and themed baskets. Down the road, she plans to provide regular manicures as well as gel nails and pedicures with foot detox.

Julie went to beauty school in 1983 and earned her license. She then went back and got her teaching license and taught in Shenandoah, Iowa. She also owned House of Hair in Shenandoah and hair salons in Northboro and College Springs, Iowa. In 1995, Julie and her husband and children moved to Missouri and she opened a salon in the house on Hwy. 46, where she’s been ever since. She also worked for Betty Wennihan at The Mane Thing in Fairfax and a few salons in Maryville, Missouri.

Ruffled Feathers is currently open by appointment only on weekdays (morning, day or evening) and Saturdays if necessary. Call Julie at 660-686-2483 to set up an appointment or message her through the Ruffled Feathers Salon Facebook page or email Julieannie1983@gmail.com. Julie is looking forward to providing services and products to her loyal customers as well as branching out to new ones who will have easier or closer access with the new location at Tarkio Tech (she will still provide the same services in her home salon as well). She’s hoping to hold an open house and ribbon cutting around the holidays.
