• Showing at The Tarkio Theatre: “Streets of Ghost Town” with Charles Starrett and Smiley Burnette, “Henry The Rainmaker” with Raymond Walburn, “Change of Heart” with J. Carroll, “Duchess of Idaho” with Esther Williams and Van Johnson, and “Lust for Gold” with Glenn Ford and Ida Lupino.
• A new 9-hole, 36 par golf course is now ready for play and will have its official opening Sunday, August 13. The golf course is located on 60 acres on the east part of Gould Peterson Memorial Air Field just north of Highway 4 about one and one-half miles east of Tarkio. More than 75 members are now enrolled in the Tarkio Country Club.
• As part of a three-step improvement program, the Christian Church of Tarkio is receiving a new roof of green composition shingles and will soon be redecorated inside. Work on the roof began three weeks ago. The steeple was torn down and rebuilt and roofing was put over the belfry. The three-step program was inaugurated last year when a new hot air furnace was installed and an oil burner was purchased for the basement, enabling the church members to heat only the basement for occasions when no other part of the church was in use.
• Word was received Monday evening by Mrs. Thelma Dunlap of Tarkio that her son, Pfc. Gerald Paul Dunlap, had been missing in action in Korea since July 16. Pfc. Dunlap, 19, has been with an engineer unit in the Korean sector for some time.

• Tarkio’s high temperature for the week was 93 degrees on the 3rd and 4th and the low was 55 degrees on the 2nd. Precipitation was zero for the week, with only 1.11” recorded for the month of July.
• The Tarkio College Mule Barn Theatre will officially close its 1975 summer season with the August 10 evening performance of “Anything Goes.” This seventh summer season has been a record-breaking summer as each of the four musicals have been sellouts.
• A seminar on hair cutting was held at Edna’s Beauty Shop in Tarkio Monday night, August 4. Ron Davison of R.D.’s Head Shop in St. Joseph was the visiting stylist and demonstrator. Those in attendance were Zell Pinkerton, Edna Smith, Shirley McAdams, Peggy Staback, Caralee Jones, and Mary Lewis. Models were Brenda Hale, Erma Lockhart, Joyce Plymate, Wilma Mingus, and Bruce Gilbert.

• Stuart Heck, son of Paula and Greg Heck of Tarkio, is in recruit training in the U.S. Navy. He is currently stationed at Division 343 ship 10, Recruit Training Command, in Great Lakes, Illinois.
• Gabby’s Gas & Co. in Westboro, Missouri, held its grand opening Saturday, July 29. Westboro Community Betterment hosted a ribbon cutting and drawings for door prizes were also held.
• Community Hospital Association of Fairfax, Missouri, is selling the Tarkio Family Practice Center to Wallace Carpenter, M.D., of Rock Port, Missouri. Dr. Carpenter is taking over following the departure of Brent Hrabik, M.D.
• Phil and Jane Marti purchased the old Tarkio Avalanche sign that hung on the building on 3rd Street in Tarkio and had it shipped to Colorado, where it now hangs on the wall at Phil’s place of employment.
