Local youth attended a youth production workshop last week at the Liberty Theatre in Rock Port. Directed by Mikaela Sons and Erica Taylor, the cast presented “Shrek the Musical JR.” Friday and Saturday, July 25 and 26. The musical was based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film and fantastic Broadway musical. “Shrek found his swamp invaded by banished fairytale misfits who have been cast off by Lord Farquaad, a tiny terror with big ambitions. Shrek set off with a wisecracking donkey to confront Farquaad and was handed a task – to rescue feisty Princess Fiona. If successful, his swamp would be righted. Shrek tried to win Fiona’s love and vanquish Lord Farquaad, but a fairy tale wouldn’t be complete without a few twists and turns along the way.”
