The Brownville Fine Arts Association will feature three artists under one roof in “Some of Nebraska’s Favorites.” Peggy Groff, president, noted, “Brownville Fine Arts is thrilled to offer a select variety of fine quality art at one location.”
Artists displaying and selling their art will be Cate Wycoff of Peru, Nebraska, watercolors; Mary Lauber of Brownville, Nebraska, handcrafted jewelry; and Nancy Fairbanks, Grand Island, Nebraska (formerly of Auburn), pottery.
Cate Wycoff’s art has been requested by the White House four times under three administrations. Her art has been used to decorate the Easter Egg Roll twice and commemorate the Lighting of the National Christmas Tree. Many corporations have used Cate’s art in licensed products. The show will include paintings of wild flowers, birds, and more.
Mary Lauber’s fascination with jewelry began as a child admiring her mother’s large rhinestone brooches and matching clip earrings. This led to her creating unique pieces that are coveted by her many customers and faithful followers. Mary’s Emporium in Brownville was the “go to” place for unique one of a kind pieces.
Nancy Fairbanks has been making pottery for over 40 years and owns her own studio in Grand Island, Nebraska. Her work has been shown in numerous galleries and art shows, as well as providing a Nebraska Arts Council program that has supported thousands of students learning about and appreciating the pottery process. Her pieces range from functional to whimsical to museum quality art.
The outstanding workmanship of these artists will be on display and for sale from Thursday, September 4, through Sunday, September 21. A reception for Cate Wycoff and Mary Lauber will will be held on Friday, September 5, at 6:00 p.m. and is free and open the public at the Schoolhouse Art Gallery, 427 Main Street, Brownville.
The Schoolhouse Art Gallery is open Thursday, Friday, and Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., or by appointment.
