End Knox Oswald catches a quick out for two points.
East Atchison varsity football, under the direction of new Head Coach Dustin Piper, traveled to Rosendale, Missouri, Friday, August 29, 2025, to take on the North Andrew Cardinals in the season non-conference opener. The EA backfield of quarterback Brody Wennihan, runningback Gavyn Irvine and fullback Tate Johnson showed promise early as they were able to move the ball inside the red zone on several occasions throughout the first half but were unsuccessful in finding the endzone. With the game at 0’s with just under a minute to play in the first half, the Cardinals had a bad snap on a punt attempt that gave the Wolves the ball on their own 10-yard line. On second down and 4 yards to go with 33.6 seconds on the clock fullback Tate Johnson powered his way to the endzone for the first score of the game.
The East Atchison defense came up big, shutting the Cardinals down, with two of them inside the redzone and allowing only one score in the fourth quarter.
Following halftime, the Wolves’ offense went to work adding another touchdown on a third and six with a quick toss from Wennihan to Gavyn Irvine, who took it 9 yards to the endzone. Wennihan would then connect with end Knox Oswald on a quick out for the two-point conversion, giving the Wolves a 14-0 lead. In the fourth quarter, Wennihan would hand off to Irvine once again, who followed fullback Tate Johnson up the middle for six. This would be the final Wolves’ score bringing the final score to 20-8.
The Wolves will be at home in Fairfax this Friday, September 5, to take on the St. Joseph Christian Lions. St. Joseph Christian comes off a big loss to Nodaway Valley. Good luck Wolves!
