September 15, 1950
• Showing at the Fair Theatre in Fairfax: “Riding High” with Bing Crosby and Coleen Gray and “Paid In Full” with Robert Cummings, Diana Lynn, and Lizabeth Scott.
• The Dodge truck that was used by cattle rustlers was sold at auction last Wednesday. The truck was bought by a Nebraska man for $900. The two men were arrested at Rock Port last winter and later broke out of jail and became fugitives before finally being apprehended again and imprisoned.
• Ted White, W.C. White, T.J. Underwood, and Roy Russell joined the Northwest Missouri shorthorn cattle tour Monday and visited six shorthorn farms between Fairfax and St. Joseph in northwest Missouri.
• Four young people from Tarkio sang for the Fairfax Kiwanians at their Tuesday noon meeting. Virginia Hulett, Betty Lane, Marvin Lane, and Calvin Farion gave a pleasing presentation with some favorite old selections.
September 18, 1975
• Dairy Diner School Days Specials include: hamburgers, 40¢ and cheeseburgers, 50¢.
• Mr. and Mrs. Warren Chambers have recently completed a sale of their farm land southeast of Fairfax. The deal included three parcels of land with two sets of improvements totaling 480 acres. The First National Bank of Kansas City was the purchaser. A farm sale of modern farm equipment, livestock, and other items will be held at the farm.
• The Fairfax Bulldogs won their second game in as many starts Friday night, winning 9-0 over a large Albany squad on the local field. They had 11 players over 180 pounds.
• Fairfax Mayor E.C. Carter proclaimed Saturday, September 27, as National Hunting and Fishing Day.
September 14, 2000
• Richard and Marion Oswald with Oswald Bros. Seed sponsored a Pioneer plot tour on their farm west of Fairfax Thursday evening, September 7, for area customers. Approximately 40 people attended the event. Attendees were treated to a meal catered by R & L Rollin’ Smoke of Fairfax.
• Community for Kids Preschool students picked apples on Tuesday, September 12. They plan to make apple cobbler.
• The School-To-Career program is underway at Fairfax R-3. Four students are participating in this year’s program, including Jenea Kemerling, Jamie Whittington, LeAnn Graves, and Jennifer Ray. Jenea is working at Community for Kids Preschool in Fairfax. Jennifer Ray is observing Kay Graves at KG Buds in Fairfax. LeAnn Graves is working with Bev Jones at Jones Law Office in Tarkio. Jamie Whittington is observing Trudy Martin in the Community Hospital pharmacy department in Fairfax.
