We just came back from vacation and on the road home we noticed the leaves were changing. It is my favorite time of year. The weather is cooler, sweaters, bonfires, Friday night football games, the leaves are changing, and it is so beautiful.

As much as I love this time of year this is also when we get so busy. There are back to school sports and activities – never a moment to rest or relax. The only family time is on the way to ball games, and it is dinner in the car made fast and convenient for us.

It makes me wish for winter nights, cozy on the couch, and watching a family movie after a nice dinner like roast in the crock pot. Time slows down in the winter and we embrace that.

I think it is good to be busy but never too busy for God. Remember the scripture (Deuteronomy 6:5) that says, “You shall love the Lord your God with all you heart and with all your soul and with all your might.”

Matthew 22:37 says, “And He said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with your soul, and with all your mind.’”

God doesn’t want to come after all the things we have in our schedule. All the things should come after we meet with God first thing in the morning and on Sunday morning at church, we ask the Holy Spirit to lead and guide our lives daily. Are we giving God our best or are we giving him the rest?

And even though things change God never changes. Malachi 3:6 says, “I the Lord do not change.” And Hebrews 13:8 says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.”

You see, we can love the seasons changing and enjoy the beauty, but let us never forget who created those seasons and give God all praise and glory for it.

So, as I am wishing for cooler days some may be wishing for a longer summer. One thing we can always count on is that God is the same in all seasons and He is faithful to us no matter what storms we might have to weather. My prayer is that as the leaves and the temperatures change that you might seek the one who never changes.
