Hundreds of Northwest Missourians will be on the public sidewalks in St. Joseph with their signs and chants at the “Save the Midwest – the U.S. – the World: Peaceful Rally” on Saturday, September 20, at the Belt and Frederick intersection from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m.
“Rise Up! Sun” rallies focusing on the detrimental White House environmental policies will be held across the country September 20-21. “The time is now to be pro-active in advocating for renewable energy and engage with legislators to promote cleaner energy. Our fut, ure and our world depend on us,” said Diane Waddell, St. Joseph rally host and head of St. Joseph’s Ecumenical Eco-Justice (EEJ) organization.
“This is our sixth peaceful rally at the Belt and Frederick intersection sponsored by Persisterhood. People in Northwest Missouri are welcome to bring signs not only supporting environmental issues but others advocating for democracy over tyranny and violence,” said Dakota Allen, rally co-host, who will be leading chants and help with organizing.
Rally goers will have an opportunity to sign the petition sponsored by Respect MO Voters (https://respectmovoters.org/). This petition would place on the November 2026 ballot a constitutional amendment that would stop the Missouri legislature from overriding state-wide initiatives passed by a majority of Missourians at the ballot box.
Those attending are encour-aged to bring their own signs, but a limited amount are available for sharing. First aid responders will be present.
