
The Brownville Concert Series will welcome Jonathan Karrant to Brownville, Nebraska. Acclaimed singer Jonathan Karrant performs some of the most beloved songs from “The Great American Songbook.” With a repertoire that spans classic jazz standards and contemporary interpretations, Karrant brings a modern elegance to the timeless genre of jazz. The shows will be in cabaret on Friday and Saturday, October 3 and 4, at 7:30 p.m., and in concert on Sunday, October 5, at 2:00 p.m. Sponsors are John and Mary Lauber and Larry and Kim Kruger.
Jonathan Karrant was born in the heart of America at the foothills of the Ozarks in the old western town of Fort Smith, Arkansas, east of the Arkansas River. The joyous home in which Jonathan grew up was filled with art, music, and dance. His mother says Jonathan began singing from the time he was born!
Audiences and critics have characterized Jonathan as a great interpreter of song, a storyteller, a singer who brings music and lyric alive. Some refer to Jonathan as an amazing song-stylist who sings from the American songbook, an entertainer of star quality.
Jonathan has studied at the William Esper Performing Arts School in NYC and at the Seth Riggs Voice School in LA. Jonathan has also worked under the direction of Marilyn Maye and Kurt Eling. Jonathan has toured the states as well as Europe performing in jazz clubs, theaters and performing arts centers. He has performed with musical artists such as, Grammy winner Diane Schurr, Grammy nominated Karrin Allison and Sacha Boutros, Tony Middleton, John B. Williams and Roy McCurdy.
Jonathan’s album, “On and On” peaked at number four on the Billboard jazz charts. His first album, “Introducing Jonathan Karrant” was directed by one of Frank Sinatra’s pianists and musical directors, Vincent Falcone. Jonathan received the New York City Cabaret Honors and was voted Best Singer by Bravo California. Downbeat named Jonathan one of the top 12 rising jazz artists. Jonathan has also received acclaimed reviews by Jazz Corner, All About Jazz, Downbeat, Cabaret Scenes, NYC Jazz Record, Hot House, and many others.
Jonathan has performed in several productions at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City including “Aida” with Luciano Pavarotti. He has had major parts in Broadway plays such as “The Man Who Came to Dinner,” “Annie,” “The Pajama Game,” and “The Wizard of Oz.” Currently Jonathan lives in Las Vegas where he headlines in some of Vegas’ major music venues in casinos. He also continues to tour for performances and record new music.
