The East Atchison Wolves were on the road Friday, September 19, as they traveled to Oregon, Missouri, to meet the South Holt Knights.
The game would get off to a quick start as both teams scored on their opening drive. South Holt found the end zone after taking a little over five minutes off the clock and EA would answer back in just over a minute. This would be the theme of the game as the East Atchison offense would score quickly, and their defense wore down the South Holt offense, holding them to 20 points in total in the first half and shutting them out in the second half.
The Wolves found success early with big runs by Gavyn Irvine, who had 154 yards and three touchdowns, and Brody Wennihan, who added 47 yards and one touchdown. In the second half of the game receiver Parker Livengood had a 38-yard catch and fullback Tate Johnson added 82 yards and two touchdowns. This would put the game in control of the Wolves.
The EA defense was a big part of the team’s success with the defensive front of Bo Peregrine, Alex Martin, Jax Peregrine, and Knox Oswald stopping the run up the middle. Oswald had five quarterback sacks, Tate Johnson had three, and Bo Peregrine had 2.5.
The Wolves won the game 32-20.
