Kara Riley is the new City of Rock Port Police Officer. She began September 15, 2025.
The City of Rock Port has hired Kara Riley as a new police officer. Officer Riley began her police duties September 15, 2025, but is not a stranger to serving the communities in Atchison County. She grew up in Tarkio and graduated high school there in 2010. For the past 10 years she’s served local citizens as a CNA. She remarked, “I’ve always enjoyed taking care of people. Now, I can take care of them in a different way.” Officer Riley currently resides in Tarkio with her three children, Tavyn, Madilyn, and Amelia, but they will soon be making Rock Port their home.
Kara attended the Police Academy at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri, graduating June 27, 2025. She trained with the Holt County Sheriff’s Department for two months before starting her duties in Rock Port. She’s looking forward to getting to know the community better and serving it to the best of her ability.
Kara will be working office hours Monday through Friday and then will be on call on the weekends. If you are in need of an officer in Rock Port, call 660-744-2778 or dial 911 if it is an emergency.
