“As a mom of three, I never realized that child safety seats are crash-tested and must be installed correctly to work as intended. But it’s never too late to learn – and to build better safety habits!”

After completing over 30 hours of specialized training, Northwest Missouri Regional Council of Governments (NWMORCOG) recently announced that they now have a Child Passenger Safety Technician, certified through Safe Kids Worldwide.

Christy Pearce, a community planner and member of their Roadway Safety Team, is now equipped to support families across the five-county region with car seat safety. She plans to offer car seat checks by appointment and to assist at local safety events.

Looking ahead, Christy hopes to partner with obstetrics and maternity departments and collaborate with other organizations across our region to ensure families receive the education and resources they need right from the start.

“Installing a child safety seat can be confusing, even overwhelming,” Christy said, “but now we’re here to help.”
