Fall is a wonderful time to enjoy the bounty of our region. In Atchison County, harvest is happening and many school activities as well. As we consider our spiritual life this week, I want to teach on resolve and commitment to remain faithful to God, and to the Lord Jesus as a church pastor.

In steadfast devotion I want to share the following:

1) My heart will be set on the Word of God each day, in meditation and obedience. God gave me Joshua 1 in 2012 when I first started as a pastor at RPBC. “This book of instruction must not depart from your mouth; you are to meditate on it day and night so that you may carefully observe everything written in it. For then you will prosper and succeed in whatever you do” (Joshua 1:8). I want to live out God’s Word now more than ever.

2) My heart is set on praying, bringing all cares to God and knowing He cares. I will rejoice in all answered prayer and will persevere when things seem difficult and unchanging.

3) My heart is set on stewardship, maintaining and improving the physical world we live in, diligently caring for our material possessions, and making the care of our church building a weekly priority.

4) My heart is set to lovingly care for my wife and daughter, making godly, loving interaction and service a daily privilege.

5) My heart is set to work sacrificially in assisting the poor and those less fortunate. I will remember that every person is worthy of respect and appreciation in their place of service.

6) My heart is eager to share the good news of Jesus and engage in loving Gospel conversations.

7) My heart is dedicated to missional giving that we can share from our abundance here in Atchison County so others may know the Lord and grow in Him throughout the world.

8) My heart is set on humility before God and with other people. Dependence on Him will be the fuel that energizes my service, so that we may present all complete in Christ, and that God may be pleased and glorified in all we do.

“My heart, O God, is steadfast, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music.” (Psalm 57:7) Thanks for reading this article and please address any comments or questions to rpbaptistchurch@gmail.com.
