The City of Fairfax Board of Aldermen held a regular meeting October 21, 2025. The meeting was called to order by Tabitha Wintz, mayor, at 5:30 p.m. Roll was taken. Also in attendance were: Debra Wyatt, Ryan Kingery, and Tristan Ray, alderpersons; Christy Stevens, city clerk; John Brown and Steve Stevens, city employees; and Kamron Woodring, public works superintendent.
The tentative agenda was approved.
Marcus Hall, Fairfax resident, arrived at 6:00 p.m. to discuss alley parking near his residence. He was wanting to let the council know why and where he is parking and how he will resolve the matter soon. Mr. Hall left at 6:15 p.m.
Council members approved the regular minutes of September 17, 2025. They also approved accounts payable.
New Business
John Brown is currently the Atchison County Wholesale Water Commission representative for the City of Fairfax. Since he will be retiring soon, the city will need a new representative. Board members voted to make Kamron Woodring, Public Works Superintendent, as the new representative for the ACWWC starting January 1, 2026.
Amy Dowis, from Northwest Missouri Regional Council of Governments, had reached out to Christy about a potential grant for the bridge at the baseball field. The city is wanting to make it a double lane bridge for future use. Kamron Woodring had mentioned that putting a culvert in instead of a new bridge might be a lot cheaper and still get the two lane road. After a short discussion, the council decided to table the grant and culvert ideas.
Staff Reports
Kamron Woodring, public works superintendent, reported that ditches around town have been cleaned out and that a box culvert on South Broadway will need to be cleaned out and repaired soon so that water can flow through the drain. He also reported that two of the green slides at the park are taped off for use. Something had been used to scrape up the slide and has caused some damage. A police report has also been made for the situation.
Christy Stevens, city clerk, reported for Terry Miller, treasurer, that all accounts are in balance and a CD is up for renewal soon. Terry will let the council know the rates and get a vote later. Christy also reported that they need to transfer money from the general fund account to the street lights account to cover bills for the rest of the year. The alderpersons voted to transfer $3,000 from the general fund account to the street lights account.
Debra Wyatt moved to go into executive session to discuss personnel at 6:15 p.m. Ryan Kingery seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The council came out of executive session at 7:00 p.m.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:00 p.m.
The next meeting is November 19 at 6:00 p.m.
