This year, we are excited to welcome our new staff and students for this new school year! Here are some words from our new faculty and students.
When asked about how they have liked their experience here so far, and what the biggest difference is from their old school/job to Rock Port, they said:
Mrs. Graham (High School/ Junior High Counselor): “I had a really fun, recreational job before this position, and so what I’m enjoying now is that the work that I do actually has a bigger impact on people’s lives, which you guys are going to experience long term. My favorite experience so far is getting to know all the 6th through 12th graders and building relationships with them, but also I’m loving all of our sporting events that we have, and our teams excel in those areas.”
Mrs. Barnes (student support): “I used to work over at Tarkio Tech CNA classes, so now I get to work with smaller groups, and I love that. I love the one-on-one or small group instruction a lot better. I’m doing a lot of math now as opposed to healthcare stuff, which I love. I love working here because I graduated from here, I’ve lived here my whole life, and it’s cool seeing my friends’ kids grow up and always seeing familiar faces.”
Mr. Dodson (junior high math): “Well, what’s the most different between this job and my last is that I have to drive 10 miles every morning to get to work. I’m teaching middle school now, and I enjoy the kids’ energy. My favorite part of working here at Rock Port is the community and the school pride, and I like the color blue.”
Presley Carlson (freshman): “I think it’s probably been volleyball and meeting friends through sports. The biggest difference is that at my old school, my graduating class was like 500 kids, and now it’s like 30 kids, and then it’s a 6A school, so sports were like more competitive and stuff.”
Franklin Semet Sirin (8th grade): “My favorite experience is sports. There is not a big difference from my old school.”
