Jays clinch 275 Conference championship with 36-14 win over Mound City

The Rock Port Blue Jays hosted the Mound City Panthers in the final game of the regular season Friday, October 24. Before the game started, Rock Port recognized seniors who participated in fall activities. Football seniors Camden McEnaney, Ryder Herron, Tayden Cook and Quentin Jackson played their final regular season game as Blue Jays. The match-up with Mound City was a much-anticipated game as the Jays were looking to continue their undefeated season and clinch the outright 275 Conference Championship.

Rock Port’s offense put up 247 yards on the ground and 70 yards through the air. Runningback Brock Holmes ran for 235 yards and three touchdowns, while receivers Jack Meyerkorth and Tayden Cook both caught 30 plus yard passes for touchdowns.

The Rock Port defense only allowed two scores on the night, both in the second half. The Jays held the Panthers to a total of 199 yards, 51 yards rushing and 148 receiving. Three players had half the tackles of the Blue Jays’ total of 66. Camden McEnaney and Tayden Cook each had 14 tackles and Jack Meyerkorth had 13. Defensive ends Ryder Herron and Gabe Gebhards both recovered fumbles along with Meyerkorth grabbing an interception to help stop the Panthers.

Rock Port moves to 9-0 as they get a bye in the first round of District 6 action. The Jays will play the winner of the East Atchison and Platte Valley game on Friday November 7, 2025, at Blue Jay Stadium.
