The Rock Port Blue Jays hosted the East Atchison Wolves Friday, November 7, in the Class 1 District 6 Football Semifinals.

The tone was set early as the Blue Jays elected to receive the ball. On the second play of the game, runningback Brock Holmes took the ball 50 yards to the house, and the Jays never looked back. Holmes would go on to score a total of eight touchdowns, rushing for 284 yards for the night. Jack Meyerkorth played both receiver and in the wildcat position. Jack ran for 58 yards and caught four passes for 70, scoring twice. Defensively, the Jays had a total of 65 tackles, two sacks and two interceptions holding the Wolves to two touchdowns, 90 yards rushing and 139 yards receiving.

East Atchison’s Gavyn Irvine scored once in the first half and once in the second half to give the Wolves 12 points. Irvine rushed for 37 yards and had five receptions for 82 yards. Quarterback Brody Wennihan connected with seven different receivers, Parker Livengood, Mason McMahon, Knox Oswald, Brady Umbarger, Shaylon McNaughton, Josh Schlueter, and Gavyn Irvine, for 139 yards.

East Atchison finishes the season 6 and 5 with a couple of games that could have gone the other way. Rock Port remains undefeated and will advance to the District 6 championship game Friday, November 14, playing Nodaway Valley at Blue Jay Stadium. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
