The Fairfax Kiwanis Club held their regular luncheon meeting at Community Hospital-Fairfax October 21 with Tyson Gibbons, Tarkio Chief of Police and chairman of Shop With Holiday Heroes (formerly known as the Shop with a Cop) accompanied by Katie Beck, Atchison County Deputy and SRO Officer. They presented a program on this year’s program for all three schools in Atchison County. They choose 10 students from each school to take Christmas shopping for themselves and their families receiving $200 each in credit to spend before Christmas in a group outing with the officers and parents.
The program is asking for donations around the area from organizations or individuals wishing to make this happen. The officers work with students who are not receiving other types of donations to make their Christmas happier. Anyone wishing to donate should contact Tyson Gibbons at Tarkio City Hall.
