Two-vehicle crash on I-29

Two vehicles collided on Interstate 29 at the southbound 116th mile-marker five miles east of Watson, Missouri, at 10:00 a.m. Sunday, November 2, 2025. A 2023 Nissan, driven by a 49-year-old male from Independence, Missouri, and a 2018 Hyundai Ioniq, driven by a 48-year-old female from Freeland, Washington, were both traveling southbound on I-29 in the passing lane with the Nissan behind the Hyundai. The Hyundai merged into the driving lane and the Nissan passed the Hyundai and merged into the driving lane in front of the Hyundai to exit at Exit 116. The Hyundai struck the back of the Nissan and both vehicles came to rest on their wheels facing south on the off ramp.

The female driver of the Nissan, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Grape Community Hospital in Hamburg, Iowa, by an Atchison-Holt ambulance. The male driver of the Hyundai, who was also wearing a seat belt, did not report any injuries at the scene.

Both vehicles were totaled and towed by Double M Towing. The accident was investigated by Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper C. R. Kinman, who was assisted by the Atchison County Sheriff’s Office and the Atchison-Holt Ambulance Service.

Wreck on I-29 injures three teens

A  one-vehicle  crash  on Interstate 29 at the northbound 120.8 mile-marker eight miles south of Hamburg, Iowa, injured three teenagers Saturday, November 8, 2025. The wreck occurred at 2:52 p.m. in Atchison County. A 2012 Acura MDX, driven by an 18-year-old male from Bellevue, Nebraska, was driving northbound on I-29 and traveled off the west side of the roadway. The Acura returned to the interstate and crossed the center, traveling off the east side of the roadway. It then traveled down an embankment and struck several trees and a fence. The Acura became airborne and began to overturn, ejecting an occupant. The vehicle came to rest off the east side of the roadway in a field on its tires facing south. None of the three occupants, which also included an 18-year-old male and a 16-year-old male, both from Bellevue, were wearing seat belts. The driver suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Grape Community Hospital in Hamburg, Iowa, by an Atchison-Holt ambulance. The 18-year-old passenger suffered serious injuries and was transported via air by StarCare to Bryan West Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska. The 16-year-old passenger suffered serious injuries was transported to Grape Community Hospital in Hamburg, Iowa, by an Atchison-Holt ambulance.

The Acura MDX was totaled and towed from the scene by Double M Towing. The accident was investigated by Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper E.M. Sigman, who was assisted by Cpl. K.L. Ebersold, Trooper R.K. Mott, Trooper C.R. Kinman, the Atchison County Sheriff’s Office, Rock Port Fire Department, Watson Fire Department, Hamburg Fire Department, and the Atchison-Holt Ambulance Service.
