December 1, 1950
• Showing at the Paramount Theatre in Rock Port: “Texas Dynamo” with Charles Starrett and Smiley Burnett, “Killer Shark” with Roddy McDowell, “Peggy” with Diana Lynn and Charles Coburn, and “Bagdad” with Maureen O’Hara and Paul Christian.
• Mr. and Mrs. Gratz Bartholomew have been redecorating their place of business in the Helmer building in preparation for a new gift shop which they plan to open before the Christmas holidays. The floors have been repainted and waxed and showcases and fixtures renovated and decorated to ready for the stock to be placed.
• The exemption from payment of postage on first-class letters granted to members of the armed forces during WWII has been restored for members on duty in Korea and other areas.
• A fire of mysterious origin, which apparently originated in a dust collector on the roof of the elevator building, did considerable damage at the Rock Port Feed Co. about 10:00 last Friday night.
• A middle-aged couple from Saskatchewan, Canada, stopped in Rock Port Sunday night on their way to Florida. They said their home is about 300 miles north of the international border.
November 27, 1975
• The Rock Port Blue Jays varsity basketball team dropped their first game of the season to the Jefferson Eagles of Conception Junction 44-54 in a nonconference game last Friday. Kent Wanamaker led the Blue Jays with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
• The Rock Port High School FFA and FHA Barnwarming was held November 20. Eugene Ingram was the caller for the square dance. Sean Easley was named the king and Judy Stanton was picked as the queen.
• Cox’s Conglomerations: “If we keep converting to digital clocks and watches, it won’t be long before the kids won’t be able to tell time from the time honored two-handed time piece. Ahhh progress.”
• Showing at the Paramount Theatre in Rock Port: “The Strongest Man In The World.”
• Gina Briggs, a senior at Rock Port high school who plans to enroll at Northwest Missouri State University in the fall of 1976, received the 1976 NWMSU Women’s Physical Education Department Career Day Scholarship. Miss Briggs has assisted with the physical education programs in both the elementary and junior high schools in Rock Port.

• The William White DAR Chapter presented a United States flag to the Rock Port School.
• Rock Port high school sophomore Wendy Kuhns and senior Erica Corken were chosen as All-Conference Volleyball honorees.
• Stop in the Atchison County Mail, Stoner Drug, or Country Creek Mall and place a bid on a wreath of your choice. The winner will be notified after the Dickens Christmas open house.
• A grand opening of Junkables will be held December 2 and 3 at 408 W. Hwy. 136, Rock Port (old Army Store). Junkables will sell decorative soaps, original art paintings, and new-used antiques.
• The Pleasant View Nursing Home dietary staff fed close to 200 people for the family Thanksgiving dinner held at the facility in Rock Port.
