Tarkio Elementary students recently participated in a Turkey Trot race with Tarkio’s very own turkey (Isaac Vette) and reindeer (Robbie Armstrong). The turkey, reindeer, and students raced around the elementary track for one lap to burn off calories and energy just in time for Thanksgiving.

Stason Sundermann and Emmett Reeves were the winners in the younger kids’ turkey trot race.

Sage Sundermann was the winner in the older kids’ turkey trot race, giving turkey Isaac Vette a run for his money.

After the Turkey Trot run on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, names were drawn from each grade level for prizes. Winners were: kindergarten – Liam Masonbrink, 1st grade – Bristol Sutter, 2nd grade – Keller Weber, 3rd grade – Cambria Baruth, 4th grade – Marin Carson-Moreno, and 5th grade – Lilly Maupin. This event was sponsored by the Tarkio R-I School District’s Wellness Committee.
