The deadline to file as a candidate for the April 6, 2026, Municipal Election is Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. The following openings will be on the ballot:

The City of Fairfax has two At-Large openings.

Openings with the City of Rock Port include North Ward Alderman and South Ward Alderman.

The City of Tarkio has openings for Mayor, North Ward Alderman, and South Ward Alderman.

There are two At-Large Trustee openings with the Village of Watson.

Westboro will also have two At-Large openings.

Each of the school districts in Atchison County has three school board positions open.

The Tarkio Special Road District, Phelps City Special Road District, Watson Special Road District, and Langdon Special Road District will each have one opening for commissioner.

The Atchison-Holt Ambulance District will have openings in two of its sub-districts: Sub District #3 (Atchison County Township of Tarkio) and Sub District #6 (Holt County Townships of Forest, Lewis, Hickory, Nodaway and Forbes) each have one position open.

The Tarkio Fire District, West Atchison Rural Fire District, Fairfax Fire District, and Westboro Fire District will each have one District Board opening.

The Public Water Supply District No. 1 of Atchison County will have an opening in Sub District #1 and Sub District #2.
