• Dr. M. Earle Collins presented his resignation Tuesday as president of Tarkio College. He has accepted the presidency of Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Missouri.
• Mrs. T.A. Laur of Westboro will lead the 1951 Easter Seal appeal in Atchison County, the funds to support the work of the county committee for crippled children.
• The Indians came back from the holidays to romp to a 44-21 victory over Watson. Dave Fauntz led the way for Tarkio, scoring 14 points. Jochim netted a total of 11 points for Watson’s scoring honors.
• Five Atchison County youth enlisted Tuesday at St. Joseph for military service. They are: Shay Carlisle, Bill Clark, Lee Eddie Stevens, and Don Noble, all of Tarkio, and Kenneth Barnes, Westboro.
• Robert Graf Motors in Tarkio advertises “Presenting the new 1951 Cadillac. Far more beautiful, gorgeous new interiors, and an even finer high-compression engine!”
• Showing at the Tarkio Theatre: “Roseanna McCoy,” “The Hills of Bataan,” “Rocky Mountain” starring Patricia Wymore and Errol Flynn, and “The Outlaw” starring Jane Russell.

• Winter struck with a vengeance this past week with a minus five degrees recorded on January 4, followed by a high of 38° on the 5th.
• An FM radio station for Tarkio at 93.5 on the dial could be a reality as early as April, according to Jim McCollum, president of the Ashdown Broadcasters, Inc. Although the station go ahead is still dependent on Federal Communication Commission action, requiring at least 45 days, an option for a site just west of the wye has been secured and plans for a building have been offered to local firms for bids.
• Hackett’s advertised the following specials: bath towels, $2.39; hand towels, $1.69; wash cloths, 99¢; flour sack dish towels, 2 for $1.29; and sheets (flat and fitted), $3.88 for twin size to $7.50 for queen size.
• Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Horne, rural Tarkio, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary January 16. Thomas Horne and the former Pearle Roberts were married January 16, 1926, at the First Christian Church in Tarkio.

• Tarkio High School wrestling homecoming will be held January 8 at Heartland Recreation Center in Tarkio. King and queen candidates are Vladimir Ciric, Jared Hall, Tanya Riley, Elizabeth Low, and Casie Lesher. Attendants are Crystal Klosek and Travis Smith, freshmen; Amber Graham and Danny Tubbs, sophomores; and Beth Greeley and Corey Aeschliman, juniors.
• Funds for the new resource center in Tarkio have reached $29,945.
• Ask Elsie Fae: “Due to listening to several accounts of various New Year’s Eve parties, I have developed a serious hangover. This unfortunate problem has rendered me incapable of writing my column this week. However, by next week I do expect to name certain persons as well as the New Year’s resolutions I feel they should make.”
• The Tarkio High School girls’ varsity basketball team came home with the consolation trophy from the Bishop-LeBlond Holiday Tournament played December 27-29 at Missouri Western Field House in St. Joseph.
