The Fairfax Invitational Basketball Tournament is taking place this week at Fairfax High School. Besides exciting games of basketball, the juniors will be providing “Bulldog Cafe” concessions each night with curbside pickup available. Both EA teams will play Wednesday, January 14. The EA girls will play Mound City at 4:30 p.m. and the EA boys will play Nodaway Valley at 6:00 p.m. Both Rock Port teams will play Thursday, January 15. The Rock Port girls will play the winner of Falls City/St. Joseph Christian game at 4:30 p.m. and the Rock Port boys will play the winner of the Mound City/St. Joseph Christian game at 5:45 p.m.

Classes at Fairfax R-3 will dismiss early Wednesday, January 14. No school will be held at any of the Atchison County schools on Monday, January 19, in recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

The Fairfax Volunteer Fire Department will have a fish and chicken fry (catfish, carp, and chicken) Saturday, January 17, 2026, beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Fairfax Community Room in the fire station. Free-will donations will be accepted for the dine-in or carry-out meal. (Phone orders must be placed by 5:30 p.m.) Delivery will be available for senior citizens living in town in Fairfax (call 660-686-2581).

The Rock Port High School wrestling teams will host a tri-meet on Tuesday, January 20, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Rock Port senior wrestlers and their parents will be recognized.
