The City of Fairfax Board of Aldermen held a regular meeting January 22, 2026. The meeting was called to order by Tabitha Wintz, mayor, at 5:30 p.m. Also in attendance were: Tristan Ray, Debra Wyatt, Stephanie Stevens, aldermen; Christy Stevens, city clerk; Kamron Woodring, public works superintendent; Terry Miller, city treasurer; and Danny Kemerling and Greg Smith, Fairfax Fire Department Board.
The tentative agenda was unanimously approved.
Visitors/Presentations/Public
Danny Kemerling and Greg Smith of the Fairfax Fire Department Board were present to discuss updates and grant opportunities. Since last year, the fire department has purchased air packs for each fireman and has done general maintenance to equipment. The fire board is wanting to apply for a grant for a new fire truck but the grant has to go through the city to apply. After a short discussion, the council agreed to help the board apply for the grant. The annual assessed payment was discussed. The council approved payment. The gentlemen left the meeting at 5:55 p.m.
The aldermen voted unanimously to approve the regular minutes of December 17, 2025, and accounts payable.
Old Business
The council discussed the city’s grader and putting it up for bids. Kamron and Christy will work on putting the bids out in the next week.
New Business
Speeding around town has been brought to the council’s attention. After a short discussion it was decided to table the topic for another meeting.
Staff Reports
Terry Miller, city treasurer, reported that all accounts are in balance.
Christy Stevens, city clerk, mentioned that the city auditor should be up next week to start the 2025 audit. She also suggested to the council that they think about what hours they want the office to be when she goes on maternity leave in May.
Kamron Woodring, public works superintendent, reported that he has been in wastewater classes the last two weeks to get his license. He also asked the council if they would want him to go to Great Northwest Days in Jefferson City February 3 to help network and get suggestions from other cities about projects. The aldermen voted unanimously to approve Kamron going.
The aldermen voted to go into executive session at 6:15 p.m. to discuss personnel.
The council came out of executive session at 6:43 p.m.
The meeting adjourned at 6:45 p.m.
The next meeting is February 18 at 5:30 p.m.
