The Rock Port Lady Jays are returning to the Final Four for the second consecutive year, following their win over Gilman City Friday, March 6. Stevie Gaines gets the basket and the foul. Stevie was the leading scorer with 15 points. She also led the team with 17 rebounds.

 

The Rock Port High School girls’ basketball team (28-2) traveled to Gallatin, Missouri, Friday, March 6, to take on the District 14 champions Gilman City, who had a record of 27 and 1 for the year.

The gymnasium was packed with blue and white, although it was two thirds full of Gilman City fans as they only had a 20 minute drive. The game was close throughout with Rock Port leading three out of the four periods. Rock Port led 23 to 16 at halftime and would expand on that in the second half. The final score was 43 to 31. The Lady Jays advance to the Final Four in Columbia at Mizzou Arena. Their first game will be on Wednesday, March 11, at 10:00 a.m. and they will face Delta in the first round. Delta is 26 and 4 on the season. Good luck ladies!

Blue Jays compete in Sectional play

The Rock Port boys’ basketball team traveled to Lathrop, Missouri, on Tuesday, March 3, to play Faith Christian Academy in the sectional round of the State Basketball Tournament.

It was a tough battle with the lead changing several times throughout the game. At the end of the first period and second period the score was tied. Going into the fourth period Rock Port had a three point lead.

With time expiring under two minutes, it was a one score game. Rock Port would end their season 62-69 with the score in favor of Faith Christian Academy. It was a great season and much to be proud of.
