New Business

Kamron Woodring, city superintendent, wanted to confirm responsibilities of the ball field between the city, the school, and Fairfax Improvement Foundation. It was agreed last year that the city will continue to mow, weed eat, and take care of the bathrooms at the ballfield. Tabitha Wintz will work on getting schedules from all ball teams so that the city guys can know when practices and games are.

Staff Reports

Terry Miller, city treasurer, reported that all accounts were in balance. A few CD’s will be maturing in the coming months and Terry asked the council to be thinking of what they want to do.

Christy Stevens, city clerk, reported the city clerk fill-in while she is on maternity leave has been coming in to be shown responsibilities and what will need to be done while she is out. The office hours will be changing tentatively beginning May 18, 2026. Office hours will be Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and open all day the day of shut-offs and the day after shut-offs. Please be patient when the office hours change. Christy also urges residents who haven’t signed up for online billing to do so. Having online access lets you see your bill, usage, and pay online. You can call city hall about signing up for electronic billing.

Kamron Woodring reported that a new pH probe for the sewer tester is needed. The aldermen voted unanimously to spend $600 on a new probe. Classes for water certification start in July. Kamron asked if the council would want both him and Ky White to attend or just one at a time. The aldermen voted to send both as long as John Brown or Steve Stevens could be around in case of emergencies during the class times. If they are not, then Kamron will be the one to attend. Kamron and Ky got a list of residents that are needing trees trimmed over streets or public right-of-ways. Letters will be going out soon and residents will have 30 days to let city hall know if they will be hiring a contractor to take care of the trimmings or the city guys will go around and take care of the trimmings themselves. LG Sonic parts for the lagoon need to be replaced and Kamron will get quotes for street repairs for next month’s meeting.

The aldermen voted unanimously to go into executive session to discuss personnel at 6:22 p.m. The council came out of executive session at 7:00 p.m. The regular meeting was adjourned at 7:00 p.m. The next meeting is April 15 at 5:30 p.m.
