Atchison County Development Corporation, Community Hospital-Fairfax, Hurst Greenery, Advanced Pork Systems, Cooper Nuclear Station, and Meyerkorth Aviation joined forces to present a career day for Atchison County eighth graders on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. The students visited some of the businesses and learned about what services those entities provide and what jobs are available through speeches, tours, and hands-on activities. At Community Hospital-Fairfax (pictured above and below), the students toured the Emergency Room, Radiology Department, Laboratory, and Physical Therapy Department, as well as heard from several hospital employees. Over 50 eighth graders learned about some of the amazing career opportunities our county has to offer. At Hurst Greenery (above), the students learned about all the hardwork that goes into planting, selling, and distributing flowers and plants not only to locals, but around the nation. At Meyerkorth Aviation (below), the kids heard about what goes into keeping the airplane fleet up and running to spray area farm fields. (ACDC photos)
