The Atchison County Commission met Wednesday, March 25, 2026, for a special meeting of the commission at the Atchison County Courthouse for the 71st annual County Government Day. Over 70 students spent the day touring all the county offices and learning what services they provide. During the afternoon session they watched a mock trial in the courtroom and were given the opportunity to present questions to the sheriff, prosecuting attorney and judges.

The Atchison County Commission met Thursday, March 26, 2026. Present at the meeting were: Presiding Commissioner Curtis Livengood, North District Commissioner Jim Quimby, South District Commissioner Richard Burke, and Susette Taylor, Clerk of the Commission.
Presiding Commissioner Livengood called the meeting to order.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Bills were reviewed and approved for payment.
Bids were opened at 9:00 a.m. for mowing the banks at the courthouse for the 2026 season. The only bid was from Jeff Jones in the amount of $150.00 per mowing. The commissioners voted unanimously to accept the bid.
The commission reviewed the intergovernmental agreement between the City of Rock Port and the county for road maintenance and rock. The agreement is updated annually to reflect the rock pricing for that year. There being no other changes to the agreement, the commissioners voted unanimously to approve the agreement as presented.
There being no further business, the commission adjourned.
