A one-vehicle accident on Hwy. 59 south of Tarkio, Missouri, seriously injured a Tarkio man and sent him to the hospital. The crash occurred at 2:02 p.m. 1/4 mile south of Tarkio as a 2000 Ford Expedition was southbound on Hwy. 59. The vehicle began skidding and the 20-year-old driver overcorrected. The Expedition crossed the center line, returned to the southbound lane, then traveled off the west side of the roadway and overturned, coming to rest on its wheels in a field off the west side of the roadway.

The driver, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered serious injuries and was transported to Community Hospital-Fairfax in Fairfax, Missouri, by an Atchison-Holt ambulance. The 2000 Ford Expedition was totaled and towed from the scene by Double M Towing.

The accident was investigated by Missouri State Highway Patrol Sgt. T.L. Shupe, who was assisted by the Atchison County Sheriff’s Office and Atchison-Holt Ambulance Service.
