Quentin Jeffery Jackson

From solving complex math problems to preparing for life after high school, Quentin Jeffery Jackson has built his high school experience around hard work and determination. This fall, he will take those skills to the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, where he plans to major in mechanical engineering.

While excited about the opportunities ahead, Quentin admits he is also a bit nervous about the challenges that come with college-level classes. Still, his strong interest in math, his favorite subject, has helped prepare him well. He says he enjoys “the feeling of bliss after solving a problem,” a mindset that will serve him in his future studies.

Quentin credits his father as his biggest role model, noting that he has taught him how to be a hard worker and a good man. Those lessons have shaped Quentin’s approach to both school and life.

During his time in high school, Quentin stayed active outside the classroom by fishing and golfing, while also enjoying football, his favorite sport. One of his most memorable experiences was playing football in the snow, a moment he says stands out among his high school memories.

Looking back, Quentin reflects on what he might have done differently. He wishes he had spent more time with friends and enjoyed the social side of high school more. His advice to underclassmen echoes that thought: “Don’t forget to make time for your social life.” He also emphasizes the importance of effort in academics, noting that success comes more easily when you stay committed to your classes.

Quentin describes his high school experience in three words: “Lots of knowledge.” One piece of advice that stuck with him throughout the years was, “Don’t wish your days away,” a reminder to appreciate each moment.

As he prepares to graduate, Quentin says he will miss the community he grew up in the most. Looking ahead ten years, he hopes to be working a job he loves and building a successful future.

With a strong work ethic and clear goals, Quentin Jeffery Jackson is ready to take on the next chapter.
