Ella Meyerkorth prepares to unleash the javelin. Ella repeated her feat from last year’s District meet, finishing the day with four individual firsts. She threw the javelin 36.91 meters and jumped 5.25 meters in the long jump to go along with her wins in the 100 meter and 300 meter hurdles.
Norah Watkins was the queen of the Class 1 District 8 long-distance races, clocking a 5:48.95 in the 1600 meter run and a 12:35.58 in the 3200 meter run to secure victory in both.
East Atchison’s Gavyn Irvine qualified for Sectionals in two individual events, running a 44.07 to take third in the 300 meter hurdles and winning the triple jump with a leap of 13.13 meters.
Rock Port senior Ella Meyerkorth focuses on the finish line while taking first in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.21 at the District meet in Grant City. Ella won the 300 meter hurdles as well, clocking a 44.74.
Ryder Herron propels the discus at the Class 1 District 8 Track Meet in Grant City. He had a strong day, taking third in the discus with a throw of 38.88 meters and hitting 13.98 meters on his way to winning the shot put.
Rock Port senior Dylan Lair won the 100 meter dash and long jump at Districts. His jump of 6.22 meters earned him first and a Sectional qualification.
Rock Port sophomore Braylyn Wood placed second in the 800 meter run, running a 2:30.74.
The Rock Port girls’ 4×800 meter relay team finished in second with a time of 10:36.54. Braylyn Wood, Norah Watkins, Reese Herron, and Raylynn Jenkins ran the legs for the Blue Jays.
The Rock Port boys’ 4×100 meter relay team of Blaise Krogen, Case Millsap, Dylan Lair, and Justin Kuhns placed second, running a 45.6.
Raylynn Jenkins placed second in the discus at Districts with a toss of 32.18 meters.

Gabe Gebhards launches the shot put on his way to qualifying for Sectionals in three events. With a toss of 13.62 meters in the shot put he finished in second. He also moved on in the discus, taking fourth with a throw of 38.86 meters, and the javelin, throwing 43.59 meters and taking second.
Landrey Kelly acrobatically clears the bar at the District meet in Grant City. She finished second in the pole vault, vaulting 2.93 meters.

East Atchison’s boys’ 4×400 meter relay team placed third at Districts with a time of 3:44.86. Shaylon McNaughton, Quin Staten, Elliott Walker, and Mason Kingery made up the relay team.
East Atchison’s boys’ 4×200 meter relay team placed third at Districts with a time of 1:36.48. Mason Kingery, Shaylon McNaughton, Elliott Walker, and Gavyn Irvine made up the relay team.

Stevie Gaines concentrates on her landing on her way to qualifying for Sectionals in the triple jump. Her leap of 9.89 meters was good enough to place third in the District.
Rock Port freshman Reese Herron ran a 1:02.3 in the 400 meter dash to take home fourth place.
Azlynn Wiley placed fourth in the triple jump, leaping 9.72 meters.
Rock Port’s girls’ 4×400 meter relay team secured Sectional qualification with a fourth place finish and a time of 4:21.58. Team members are, from left to right, Audrie Meyerkorth, Braylyn Wood, Norah Watkins, and Reese Herron.
The East Atchison girls’ 4×200 meter relay team, consisting of Grace Caudill, Teagan Taylor, Brilee Slemp, and Makenna Caudill, took home fourth, running a 1:55.63 on their way to qualifying for Sectionals.
East Atchison’s Taya Windham took home fourth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:36.15.
Tate Johnson placed fourth at Districts in the shot put with a throw of 12.96 meters.

Deyton Burke placed sixth in the triple jump at the District meet, bounding 11.66 meters.

Rock Port’s Cooper Daugherty finished 13th in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:28.88.

The Class 1 District 8 Track Meet was held Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Worth County High School in Grant City, Missouri. The Rock Port Lady Blue Jays won the meet with 136 points. The East Atchison Lady Wolves placed sixth with 37 points. The Rock Port Blue Jays placed third with 84 points and the East Atchison Wolves tied for fifth place with 51 points.
The top four places qualified to compete at the Sectional Track Meet this Saturday, May 16. That meet will be held at Mound City.
