• Showing at the Tarkio Theatre: “Tarzan and the Slave Girl,” “China Sky” with Randolph Scott, Ruth Warrick, and Ellen Drew, “Call Me Mister” with Betty Grable, Dan Dailey, Danny Thomas, and Benay Venuta, and “Grounds For Marriage” with Van Johnson and Kathryn Grayson.
• A farm house and contents were completely destroyed by fire Tuesday on the farm located three miles north of Tarkio on Highway 59 and owned by the Misses Jessie and Blanche McMullen and Dr. C.B. McMullen of Tarkio. The household goods belonged to the Eldon Carlock family.
• An airplane accident near Orange City, Iowa, yesterday morning claimed the life of Frank C. Peterson of the Peterson Feeds and Seeds business here and critically injured his younger brother, David. The brothers had left Tarkio in a Cessna plane and were on their way to South Dakota on business. Foggy weather conditions prevailed and the men attempted to land the plane in a field, but crashed.
• Members of the State Highway Department, accompanied by members of the State Highway Patrol, are striping the highways with yellow lines in the center of danger areas.
• Tarkio College will graduate 46 seniors in the 65th annual commencement Tuesday at David Rankin Hall.

• Fifty-two seniors will be presented with diplomas at the Tarkio High School commencement ceremony Friday, May 21. Top seniors are Eugene Donald Austin, Beverly Kay Jones, Darcie Deanne Lade, Anne Elaine Miller, and John Patrick Ryan.
• Dale Van Leuven was honored by the Tarkio College Class of 1976 with the Senior Cane Award. This award is given by the senior class to a faculty or staff member who has made an outstanding contribution to the college community.
• Tarkio College Lady Owls Softball Team, the Missouri AIAW State Champions, earned fifth place in the College World Series held in Omaha, Nebraska, May 13-16. The Tarkio team won three and lost two. Tarkio pitchers Vanna Andersen and Marg Studebaker allowed only two earned runs in the five games and pitched three shut-outs.

• Ashely Poptanycz and Tyler Rolofson were named the Tarkio High School Outstanding Senior Athletes this year. Ashely and Brett Wennihan were named Miss and Mr. THS.
• The Post Office, with the help of Tarkio Academy, collected over 2,000 pounds of food for the local food pantry.
• An open house was held May 10 at Rogers Pharmacy in Tarkio in celebration of recent remodeling done to the store. Workers Sherry Clement, Holly Swinehart, Lisa Gish, and Sue Klute welcomed all who attended.
• InnerThump Records and Entertainment, Inc. is proud to announce its Independent Project’s release of Notes To Self, the solo debut album from versatile guitarist Jason Riley. A fusion of folk, pop, and art music, Notes To Self contains 10 original pieces performed by Riley, a former resident of Tarkio.
• Tarkio High School band and choir students recently performed their spring music concert. Some of the awards presented to the students included: Most Points Earned in Chorus, Derek Hancock; John Philip Sousa Award, Casie Lesher; National Choral Award, Jeremy Smith; Most Points in Band, Mary Ruth “Rudy” Koch; Jazz Band Award, D.J. Martin; and the Outstanding Senior Music Award, Adam Rolf.
