The Rock Port Lady Blue Jays placed third as a team at the MSHSAA Class 1 Track and Field Championships. Ella Meyerkorth checks the clock as she clears the final hurdle of her high school career in the 300 meter hurdles. Ella won in convincing fashion, breaking her own record with a time of 44.39 seconds. Ella has held the record for the last three years. Ella also placed second in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.41, third in the javelin with a throw of 38.44 meters, and seventh in the long jump with a jump of 5.01 meters.

Norah Watkins beat her personal best this year by more than 20 seconds running the 3200 meters in 12:11.35 on Saturday to place second. She also ran a time of 5:26.10 in the 1600 to place eighth. This was a PR for Norah by almost 10 seconds.

Raylynn Jenkins hit 31.82 meters in the discus to place seventh.

Rock Port’s 4×800 meter relay started Saturday’s state competitions placing third with a time of 10.16.77. Raylynn Jenkins, above, got things started and passed the baton to Reese Herron, below.

Below, Norah Watkins ran a strong third leg, moving them into third position and passed the baton to Braylyn Wood, who was able to maintain that place.

Dylan Lair finished in a time of 11.21 in the 100 meter dash to place 4th.

Gavyn Irvine finished in fourth place in the triple jump, hitting a mark of 13.21 meters. Despite injuring his hamstring earlier, Gavyn Irvine also ran the 300 meter intermediate hurdles and finished in 16th place in the preliminaries.

East Atchison’s Danni Irvine vaulted 2.70 meters to place sixth and come home with a medal.

Rock Port’s 4×400 meter relay first exchange was from Reese Herron to Talyn Amthor.

Running the third leg of the 4×400 was Audrie Meyerkorth, who passed the baton to anchor Braylyn Wood.

Gabe Gebhards had a PR in the shot put, throwing 13.80 meters to place eighth. He had a tough day in the discus as he scratched all three throws.

Ryder Herron was sitting in ninth place but popped off a throw of 15.64 meters in his last throw to place second and set a new personal record.

Stevie Gaines competed in the triple jump, hitting a mark of 9.65 meters to finish in 14th place.

East Atchison’s Azlynn Wiley competed in the triple jump at Class 1 State Track on Saturday morning. Azlynn jumped 9.34 meters finishing 16th overall.

Kinley Lair finished 14th in the shot put with a throw of 9.41 meters.

Reese Herron ran a good 400 meters finishing in ninth place and missing the finals by .09 second.
The MSHSAA Class 1 Track and Field Championships were held Friday and Saturday, May 22 and 23, 2026, at Adkins Stadium in Jefferson City, Missouri. The Rock Port women’s team placed third with 47 points, and the East Atchison women’s team placed 49th with 3 points. The Rock Port men’s team tied for 32nd place with 8 points, and the East Atchison men’s team tied for 41st place with 5 points. Results for Atchison County’s state qualifiers are as follows:
EAST ATCHISON
Gavyn Irvine claimed the first medal for Atchison County and the EA Wolves with a fourth place finish in the triple jump on Friday. He had a jump of 13.21 meters.
Gavyn also competed in the 300 meter hurdles, finishing in 16th place with a time of 52.94 in the preliminaries.
EA’s 4×200 meter relay team (Gavyn Irvine, Mason Kingery, Elliott Walker, and Shaylon McNaughton) was disqualified in the preliminaries.
The Wolves’ 4×400 meter relay team (Shaylon McNaughton, Elliott Walker, Quin Staten, and Mason Kingery) finished in 14th place, running a time of 3:42.55 in the preliminaries.
Danni Irvine earned a sixth place medal in the pole vault with a jump of 2.70 meters.
Azlynn Wiley had a jump of 9.34 meters in the triple jump. She placed 16th in the event.
ROCK PORT
Ella Meyerkorth earned a third place medal in the javelin with a throw of 38.44 meters.
She also competed in the long jump, earning her second medal with a jump of 5.01 meters and finishing in seventh place.
In the 100 meter hurdles, Ella posted a time of 15.20 in preliminaries and qualified for the finals. She placed second in that event with a time of 14.71.
Ella finished her competition at the state meet competing in the 300 meter hurdles. She qualified for the finals with a time of 45.52 in the preliminaries, and won the event Saturday with a time of 44.39. That time broke the state meet record she set in 2024. She has now run the three fastest times ever recorded in Class 1.
100 Meter Dash – Dylan Lair had a third place finish in the preliminaries of the 100 meter dash and qualified for finals. He placed fourth in that event with a time of 11.21.
Norah Watkins ran the 1600 meter run on Friday, earning an eighth place finish with a time of 5:26.10.
Norah capped off her senior year with a second place finish in the 3200 meter run with a time of 12:11.35.
