Gloria Parshall Lightner, 80, Burlington Junction, Missouri, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2026, at the Community Hospital-Fairfax, Fairfax, Missouri, with family at her side.

The daughter of Melvin and Clara (Crockett) Parshall, Gloria was born September 3, 1945, in Maryville, Missouri. She was a 1963 graduate of West Nodaway High School, Burlington Junction.

Gloria grew up on the family farm outside of Burlington Junction, where she spent her days helping her dad with chores and farm work. She was an office manager and bookkeeper for over 30 years. Gloria loved her family deeply. She enjoyed birdwatching (especially her hummingbirds), spending time outdoors (including mowing her property), crocheting, and diamond art painting. Gloria was a wonderful cook and will be remembered for her homemade noodles, dressing, and coconut pies.

In addition to her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by her brother, Gary Parshall; her sister-in-law, Judy Parshall; and her nephew, Dickie Parshall.

Surviving Gloria are her children, Michael (Angie) Lightner, Burlington Junction, Melissa (Danny) Evans, Clearmont, Missouri, and Michelle (Jim) Petersen, Louisburg, Kansas; her siblings, Dick Parshall, Tarkio, Missouri, Shirley Kay (Rodney) Wake, Burlington Junction, Kristie (Skeeter) Hale, Rock Port, Missouri, and Roger Parshall, Tarkio; her eight grandchildren, Tara (Tanner) Umbarger, Tessa (Austin) Lightner, Andrew Lightner, Bryce Evans, Ryan Evans, Lauren (David) West, Nick (Hana) Petersen, and Eric Petersen; her nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gloria was cremated under the care of Price Funeral Home, Maryville. A Celebration of Life was held Saturday, May 23, 2026, at the Little Red School House in Clearmont. Memorial contributions in Gloria’s name are suggested to Community Hospital-Fairfax or the Quitman Cemetery.
