Two people were injured in a two-vehicle collision in Atchison County early Monday afternoon, June 15, 2026. The accident occurred on Missouri Highway 46 at Route Y, roughly 10 miles east of Fairfax, Missouri, at 12:45 p.m. A 2017 Chevy Silverado 3500, driven by a 19-year-old male from Maryville, Missouri, was eastbound on 46 when it crossed the center line into the westbound lane. The rear driver’s side of the Chevy struck the driver’s side of a westbound 2010 Chrysler Town and Country, driven by a 47-year-old female from Skidmore, Missouri. The Chrysler traveled off the north side of the highway before returning to the roadway and coming to rest on its wheels, facing west and blocking the westbound lane. The Silverado came to rest on its wheels facing east, also blocking the westbound lane.
The Chrysler driver and its 23-year-old female passenger from Skidmore suffered moderate injuries and were transported by an Atchison-Holt ambulance to Mosaic Life Care in Maryville. The Silverado sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene. The Chrysler was totaled and towed from the scene by Kizer’s.
The accident was investigated by Missouri State Highway Patrol Cpl. K. L. Ebersold, who was assisted by Trooper A. J. Kempa, Trooper C. R. Kinman, the Atchison County Sheriff’s Office, Fairfax Rural Fire Department, and the Atchison-Holt Ambulance District.
