This summer, Community Hospital-Fairfax’s Occupational Therapists Shelby McCartney and Kasey Kappel are hosting four Mighty Move & Super Hands Fine Motor Camp sessions for pre-registered area children.
The first camp was held on June 9. The theme was Superheroes and participants spent the day building strength, coordination, and fine motor skills through a variety of fun activities. Each camper began with primitive reflex exercise warm-ups before tackling outdoor obstacle courses designed to challenge movement and motor planning skills. The children also enjoyed creating their own superhero masks and concluded the session with an exciting team superhero mission that encouraged teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity. The camp provides children with opportunities to develop important motor skills in an engaging and supportive environment. Shelby and Kasey look forward to the remaining sessions this summer, to be held July 7 and July 21.
