The Atchison County Fair is this week in Rock Port (check last week’s newspaper for a complete schedule, or visit our Facebook page or website). Come out to the fairgrounds and Velma Houts Building to support our local youth, as well as adult exhibitors and be sure to take part in Saturday’s parade and greased pig contest.

There will be a Cruise Night on Main Street in Rock Port Tuesday, July 14, as well as a Christmas in July event at Tulsa Rose Boutique at the intersection of Hwy. 136 and Hwy. 111. Farmers State Bank is hosting a community cookout Wednesday, July 15, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at 512 Main Street in Tarkio. Stop by for free hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, homemade desserts, and popsicles.

Boys and girls entering first through fifth grades are welcome to attend the 2026 EA Wolves Youth Football Camp Wednesday and Thursday, July 15 and 16, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Tarkio practice field next to the high school. The first meeting for any Fairfax youth wanting to participate in the 2026 Fairfax Fair Miss Fairfax and Junior Miss Fairfax Contest will be at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, July 16, 2026. The meeting will be held in the shelter house at the Fairfax City Park. The contest is for any Fairfax youth in grades 9-12 for Miss Fairfax and grades 6-8 for Junior Miss Fairfax.

After a week rehearsing in the Liberty Theatre Youth Production Workshop, local youth will present Disney’s Newsies Jr. Friday, July 17, at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, July 18, at 2:30 p.m. in the Liberty Theatre in the Atchison County Memorial Building, 417 S. Main, Rock Port.

The Community Blood Center and Rock Port United Methodist Church will hold a blood drive Monday, July 20, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the church, located at 211 W. Opp Street.
