A number of Atchison County high school golfers competed in the Northwest Missouri Junior Golf Tour this summer. This is put on by the Missouri Golf Association.

Throughout the summer, the golfers competed at some of northwest Missouri’s premier courses, including Moila Country Club, Mozingo Lake Golf Course, Fairview Golf Course, Green Hills Golf Course in Chillicothe, Duncan Hills Golf Course, and St. Joseph Country Club.

Representing Rock Port were Tayden Cook, Karlie Gebhards, and Grady Cook, and representing East Atchison were Danika Agnew, Savanna Lindsay, and Star Hankins, all Tarkio High School students, and Avery Fast, a Fairfax High School student.

Golfers earn points for participating and/or placing in the top three of each event. Players with enough points (top five in their divisions) qualify for the tour championship event at St. Joseph Country Club, which was played Monday, July 20.

Tayden, who competed in the boys’ 16-18 division, placed second in the tournament with a score of 81. Tayden also captured his second overall tour championship (the first was in 2024).

Karlie, who played in the girls’ 16-18 division, placed second with a score of 88. She finished the season in fifth place overall.

Savanna Lindsay and Avery Fast also earned invitations to the season championship at St. Joseph Country Club.

Competing in the girls’ 16-18 division, Savanna entered the championship tied for fifth place among the finalists. She shot a 116 at the championship event, finishing in sixth place. She finished the season in fifth place overall.

Competing in the girls’ 14-15 division, Avery entered the championship ranked first among the finalists. She shot a personal-best score of 109, earning a third place finish in the tournament and a second place finish in the final season standings.
