• Showing at the Fair Theatre in Fairfax: “The Lemon Drop Kid” with Bob Hope, Marilyn Maxwell, and Jane Darwell and “The Desert Hawk” starring Yvonne DeCarlo and Richard Greene.
• Richard E. Martin, resident Federal Bureau of Investigation agent in St. Joseph, but who works out of the Kansas City office, was the guest speaker at the Fairfax Kiwanis Club meeting Tuesday. Mr. Martin detailed some of the schooling and training a man must have to qualify to become an agent and some of the methods used in tracking down criminals.
• The Cole & Walters Circus will be held in Fairfax September 4. Some of the wild animals to be seen include lions, tigers, bears, apes, monkeys, deer, kangaroo, elephants, camels, llamas, and a baby hippopotamus. The LaSallis Troupe, high aerialists and acrobats will perform under the bigtop, as well as: the Al Connors Duo, wire artists and jugglers; the Max Craig Duo, sensational equilibrists; the Jackson Duo, teterboard acrobats; the Neilson Sisters, aerialists; Terrisa Morales, champion lady gymnast on trapeze; Marie Webbles’ trained chimpanzees; Wayne Newmar’s famous white horses; Bob Grubb’s trained ponies, riding dogs, and monkeys; and Cole & Walters’ trained elephants.
• A first day enrollment of 248 pupils was recorded for the 1951-52 school year at Fairfax public schools. This is three less than the first day of school last year.
• About 100 friends called at an open house Sunday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L.A. Stoner in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary, which will be September 4.
September 3, 1976
• Mark Fisher and Richard Payton were chosen as co-captains for the 1976 Fairfax High School Bulldogs football team. Both are seniors this year. Fisher will call the signals and Payton will be a running back.
• Bob Fay, a Rock Port resident who attended the Summer Olympics in Montreal, Canada, was the guest speaker of the Fairfax Kiwanis Club on Tuesday.
• Fairfax Rural Fire Department firemen responded to a wooden bridge fire on a gravel road about one mile east of Route N about 4:00 p.m. Friday. Nine men worked four hours and used about 5,000 gallons of water to put out the blaze, which was started by trash burning and catching the bridge on fire.
• Reverend Joseph Munshaw of Barnard will be at the Fairfax Methodist Church tonight to show his slides of the Holy Land.
• Fairfax R-3 School District opened its doors August 25 to 312 students, two more than at this time last year. One hundred fifty-five are enrolled in grades 7-12 and 157 are in the elementary.

• Junior high football has returned at Fairfax R-3 with a total of nine on the team. They are coached by Terry Hopkins.
• The Fairfax School Library is now automated. Mrs. Holtz and two students, Jaymee Chastain and Jessica Wiley, spent 78 hours this summer putting barcode labels on all the library books. Now when books are checked out, they are scanned and matched with students’ and teachers’ names in the computer.
• Fairfax R-3 students returned to school on Monday, August 20. They met several new faces as there are three new teachers, a new teacher’s assistant, a new custodian, a new school nurse, and four new students.
