Virginia “Vee” Marie (Peklo) Buckley was born April 8, 1949, and passed away August 16, 2026, in McComb, Mississippi, at the age of 77.
Vee was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. She passed away at her home with family by her side. She lived a loving childhood growing up with several siblings. She helped her parents take care of her younger disabled/mentally-challenged little sister, Emily “JoJo” Joanne Peklo. She met her lifelong best friend in kindergarten (Orletha Susan “Teeters” Flores). She graduated from South High School in Omaha. She was a devoted Elvis fan. She married Harold Hudson and had two children, Susan “Susie” and Harold “Harry.” They later divorced. They kept in touch as friends. She married Michael Buckley a few years later. She had one son, Scott. They lived in various cities in Kansas and Council Bluffs, Iowa, before separating after several years. She moved to Hiawatha, Kansas, for a short time then to Leavenworth, Kansas, where she met the love of her life, Louie Owens (after several years he passed away). After that devastation, she moved to Falls City, Nebraska, to be closer to her daughter and grandsons. She later moved to California. She met some great people (James and David). She then moved to several other states before settling in Mississippi with her grandson, Zachery “Zachy.” She kept in touch with her family via FaceTime, occasionally visiting, and lots of texting or phone calls.
She was a loving mother and grandmother (she was known as “Grandma,” “Mamaw,” and “Grandma Vee”). She was very loving and caring, especially towards her children and grandchildren.
Vee is survived by her daughters, Susie Jones (partner Randy Pearson whom she referred to as her son-in-law) of Rock Port, Missouri, and Maggie Ramirez (partner Justin Jamison) of Fairfax, Missouri; sons, Scott Buckley of Yazoo, Mississippi, and David King of Mayetta, Kansas; two stepsons, Shane and Eric Christiansen of Councils Bluffs, and Harold Hudson of Omaha; grandsons, Damien Hudson, Dakota Jones, Montana Jones (Kaylee Jones), all of Omaha, Zachery “Zachy” Buckley of McComb, Mississippi, and Xander Buckley of Utah (and many others she claimed as her grandsons/granddaughters); granddaughters, Nina Ramirez, Alex Ramirez, and Izzy Ramirez, all of Fairfax; and one great-granddaughter, Magnolia Rae Mae Ramirez (her ray of sunshine) of Fairfax. Vee was preceded in death by her parents, the love of her life, sisters, longtime best friend Orletha “Lee,” two brothers, and stepson Eric.
Vee will be cremated and family will have a private ceremony.
