• Showing at the Tarkio Theatre: “Tarzan and the Leopard Woman” with Johnny Weissmuller and Brenda Joyce, “Meet Me After the Show” with Betty Grable and Macdonald Carey, and “Storm Warning” starring Ginger Rogers, Ronald Reagan, Doris Day, and Steve Cochran.
• The final step in redecorating the Tarkio United Presbyterian Church was completed this week when new, green carpeting was added. Runners were placed down the aisles, across the back room of the church, in the choir loft, over the pulpit, and on the steps to the choir loft.
• Specials at Hansen’s in Tarkio include: fresh, new raisins, 2 pound bag for 37¢; Uncle William’s apple butter, large jar for 23¢; Victor flour, $1.89 for a 25-pound bag and $3.59 for a 50-pound bag; colored bathroom tissue, 2 rolls for 35¢; Armour’s sliced banner bacon, 55¢ per pound; and new, sweet yellow onions, 19¢ for three pounds.
• Miss Violet M. Eckhoff, who is associated with the Binney and Smith Company, will conduct an art workshop next Tuesday through Thursday afternoons in the Tarkio High School Library for teachers of the local grade and high schools, rural schools, and Tarkio College teachers’ training attendees. They will learn the use of Crayola, chalk, frescol, finger paint, powder paint, tempera, water colors, flexola, block printing, amazart, paper maché, and clayola.
• A dance sponsored by Allen-Schiffern American Legion Post No. 199 will be held Thursday night, September 27. Dick Mango and his orchestra will be providing the music. Before playing here, this orchestra will be featured at the PlaMor Ballroom in Kansas City.

• The Tarkio College Theatre Arts Department will open the 1976-77 season with “Godspell,” a modern musical adaptation of The Gospel According to St. Matthew. “Godspell” will be presented at the Mule Barn Theatre. “The Effect of Gamma Rays on the Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds” and Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing” will also be presented this season.
• The annual Applejack Bowl was a big event for Tarkio. Area residents drove to Nebraska City, Nebraska, for the parade and the football game with Tarkio College and Peru State teams. The Tarkio High School Band placed fourth in its division in the parade and the Owls defeated Peru 31-20.
• Being offered at Tarkio College this fall is a course on “Iran, Its Language and Culture.” The course is being taught by Mahmood Karimi Hahak, a native of Iran and student at Tarkio College, and by Dr. Sally Ahl. By the end of the course, the students will know the Farsi alphabet, read basic books, and write simple sentences, as well as have an idea of the customs and ways of life for Iranians.

• Tenth Street Restaurant has closed its doors after 13 years in business in Tarkio. The local restaurant opened in 1988 with six initial investors.
• The Tarkio High School industrial arts building will be open to the public Tuesday evenings. Teacher Bill Lindsay will be on hand to provide assistance to anyone who needs it.
• Tarkio Academy will observe the seventh anniversary of its opening on September 27.
• Dave’s Convenience in Tarkio sold 4,700 gallons of gasoline on Tuesday, September 11. Casey’s sold 7,000 gallons.
