A one-vehicle crash injured a Shenandoah, Iowa, man at 12:45 a.m. Saturday, September 5, 2026, on U.S. Hwy. 59 in Atchison County. The wreck took place south of 140th Street six miles north of Tarkio, Missouri. A 2023 Harley Davidson Road Glide, driven by a 50-year-old man, was travelling northbound on Hwy. 59 when the Harley travelled off the east side of the roadway, down an embankment, and struck a fence. The Harley overturned and the driver was ejected. The motorcycle came to rest upside down facing south.

The driver suffered serious injuries (it is not known if he was wearing a helmet) and was transported by an Atchison-Holt ambulance to Community Hospital-Fairfax, then flown via Life Net to Bergan Mercy in Omaha, Nebraska. The motorcycle was totaled and towed from the scene by Double M Towing.

The accident was investigated by Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper E.M. Sigman, who was assisted by Trooper C. R. Kinman, the Atchison County Sheriff’s Office, Westboro Fire Department, and Atchison-Holt Ambulance District.
