• Showing at the Tarkio Theatre: “A Yank in Korea” starring Lon McCallister, “Gene Autry And The Mounties,” “Night Into Morning” starring Ray Milland, “Angels In The Outfield” with Paul Douglas and Janet Leigh, and “Peggy.”
• Atchison County Telephone Company has been purchased for $95,000 by the Atchison Telephone Company. The utility is a new corporation set up by United Utilities, Inc., a Kansas holding company.
• Mac’s Drive-Inn on 10th and Chestnut streets has been moved to the new Tarkio College Alumni Field where it will be used as a concession stand. Galen McMasters, owner, has lent it to the T Club to use during the football season.
• The maximum high temperature this past week was 84 degrees on Thursday, September 20, and the low was 45 degrees on Sunday, September 23.
September 30, 1976
• When the rains fell this weekend, Atchison County farmers were pleased. However, they would have been much happier if the rains had fallen a month or two earlier. Due to the dry summer weather, the corn matured earlier and local harvests are between one and two weeks earlier than last year.
• The Tarkio Chamber of Commerce is holding its Crazee Days sales October 8 and 9. Local businesses will have deals and employees are encouraged to dress up. Best dressed will include prices for 1st ($25), 2nd ($15), and 3rd ($10).
• Northview Manor has named Mrs. Ida Lynn as Resident of the Month. She always makes coffee three times a day in the north dining room and helps serve meals and assists a blind resident at meals.

• Shaw Collision Repair opened for business Monday, September 24. The new business is run by the father and son team of Tim and Heith Shaw of Tarkio.
• The Westboro Community Betterment and Lions Club joined together for a soup and potato bar to benefit the victims of the recent terrorist attacks to the United States. The event raised $1,800 which will go to the Salvation Army and American Red Cross.
• The Tarkio High School Fall Homecoming Week is this week. The theme is “American Pride: Together We Stand.” King and queen candidates are Charles Nims, Skylar Rolf, Tim Scott, Derek Hancock, Melissa Mitchell, Kylene Harney, Beth Greeley, and Laurie Whittington.
