Where a rundown building once stood, the new Stoner Drug location is now positioned to open later this year at the corner of Opp and Main streets in Rock Port, Missouri. Reaching this milestone was a true community effort, and Restore Rock Port is honored to have contributed to the project.

Looking ahead, the Restore Rock Port board has focused on its next objective: clearing the two structures at 409 and 411 S. Main Street to allow the city to build an outdoor pavilion. Positioned beside the Walk of Honor and Memorial Building, this new space will offer a welcoming addition to the area.  After acquiring both properties three years ago, Restore Rock Port partnered with the city and county library two years ago to participate in a federal cost-sharing grant that helps cover demolition expenses. This grant will cover a large part of the costs to tear down these buildings along with the Opp Hotel and the white building sitting just south of El Patron.

Recently, the grant moved into the asbestos mitigation stage, and once this is complete contractors will be able to bid on the demolition. While this next step is still several months away, Restore Rock Port wanted to get a start on raising funds that will allow them to complete the demo.
