Bryan Hornsby, Nan Stepp, Judy Henson, and Vickie Smith worked at the Tarkio/Westboro/Fairfax, Missouri, Food Pantry on Tuesday, September 22, 2026. The food pantry receives no money or food from the government or from Second Harvest. It operates solely on donations and volunteers, so both are needed.

The Tarkio/Westboro/Fairfax Food Pantry is currently low on the following items: grape juice (64 oz), tomato juice (46 oz. can), saltine crackers, cereal, complete pancake mix, syrup (64 oz.), flour (5 lbs.), boxed potatoes (au gratin, scalloped), Tuna Helper, pork and beans, canned pasta (beefaroni, SpaghettiOs), frozen pizzas, and toilet paper.

The Good News Church of Tarkio will staff the pantry in October. The food pantry will be open Thursday, October 15, 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.; Tuesday, October 20, 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.; Thursday, October 22, 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.; and Thursday, October 27, 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.

The food pantry schedule will change for the months of November and December. The pantry will open one week earlier in each of those months due to the holidays. The Tarkio Christian Church will open the pantry November 10, 12, 17 and 19. In December, the food pantry board will open the pantry on December 12, 14, 19, and 21. Clients should be mindful of those earlier November and December opening dates.

The food pantry is located at 315 Main Street in Tarkio.

Due to the substantial increase in the cost of food, support received from organizations, churches and community members is important. The food pantry does not receive any government funding, so help received from the Tarkio, Fairfax and Westboro communities is vital to the sustainability of the mission of the food pantry.

Donations to the food pantry may be sent to Anita Sutter, treasurer, at 26287 290th Street, Fairfax, MO 64446. Checks can be made payable to Tarkio Westboro Community Care. To drop off food donations or to volunteer, contact Judy Henson at 816-261-2672.
