The Fairfax Marching Pride band members kept the music flowing this past weekend. The band marched in the East Atchison Fall Homecoming Parade (pictured) on Friday, October 9, and then finished their marching season on Saturday, October 10, at the Missouri Western State University Homecoming Parade. They placed second in the St. Joseph, Missouri, competition.

Tarkio R-I staff member Connie Gebhards made sure that Timber the Wolf didn’t miss out on the East Atchison Fall Homecoming fun and drove the much-loved mascot down Main for the parade.

The “true royalty” of the homecoming parade were the retired teachers who taught our Tarkio R-I students for so many years.

East Atchison comes up short to Platte Valley

East Atchison hosted Platte Valley in a hard fought battle  for their Fall Homecoming game on Friday, October 9.

The first quarter saw a lot of action as Platte Valley received the opening kick-off and drove the ball down the field to put the first points on the board. This was short-lived as EA would answer back following a big run by quarterback Brody Wennihan, who then hit Josh Schlueter on a 30 yard pass for six points. Wennihan punched in the two-point conversion to tie the game at 8 all. Following another PV score and EA with a 40 yard run by Brody Wennihan and a quarterback keeper, Josh Schlueter would punch it in. Wennihan’s PAT was good, giving the Wolves a 16-14 lead at the end of the first quarter.

At the eleven minute mark Platte Valley tacked on another six points to regain the lead at 16-20. Braxton Davis-Schoonover found an opening on the next drive to give the Wolves the advantage once again making the score 22-20. With 2:33 left in the first half, Platte Valley found the end zone once again to go up 22-28 at the half.

The Wolves received the ball to start the second half. East Atchison took just over three minutes off the clock before Wennihan hit Parker Livengood on a slant route, who took the ball to the one yard line before Wennihan would go up the middle for six points to tie the game at 28 all. Platte Valley tacked on one more touchdown with 5 minutes left in the third quarter to give them the lead 28-36.

The remainder of the game turned into a defensive battle as neither team was able to find the end zone ending the game 28-36.

The Wolves travel to Stewartsville on Friday night to take on the Osborn/Stewartsville WildCards.
